MJC Dairy Judging Team Takes First Place in The Big E
On September 11th Mr. Hobby, Michael Davis, Joya Lemos, A.J. Vaz, and Mark Vieiva few to the east coast to complete in two dairy judging competitions in Massachusetts and Pennsylvaina. They placed first high team on the first competition, the Big E contest and third in the Pennsylvania All American contest. The Big E competition, in Springfield Massachusetts, on September 13th MJC took first in the post-secondary division (community colleges) with Joya Lemos earning the high individual.
On September 15th, after a day of travel, the MJC dairy Judging team competed in the Pennsylvania All American. They placed third by 27 points behind A.J. Vass’s career day where he place first in almost every competition. MJC competed against seven other colleges from across the country. This 27 points was a narrow margin because each individual can get up to 800 points. In the Pennsylvania All American the team placed 1st (A.J. Vass), 10th, 11th, and 12th.
“We are ready and happy where we are heading for Madison for the next show. We are in the Top 4 schools, any four can be national Champions”

The MJC Dairy Judging team was one nine national championships out of twenty four years of competing against other community colleges across the nation.
MJC Dairy Judging team will compete next in Madison Wisconsin on September 29th during the World Dairy Expo, this contest will feature 14 teams.
