MJC Football Picks up first Win at Diablo Valley 28-27

MJC (1-2) picks up their first win of the season at Diablo Valley (2-1) 28-27. Anthony Cota scored Modesto’s first three touchdowns and opened the game with a 66 yard run to put the Pirates up. Cota ended the game with 189 yards on 26 carriers with three touchdowns. He was unstoppable as he averaged 7.3 yards per rush.
Joseph LeGerrette-Luke started the game for the Pirates totaling for 125 yards passing with one touchdown and 61 yards rushing. Modesto scored 14 points in the third quarter on a four yard run by Cota and a 38 yard pass from LeGerrette-Luke to Fotias Jordanoglou to lead 28-24. The Modesto Defense then held Diablo Valley’s offense to three points in the fourth quarter to preserve the win 28-27. Jordan Faatiga led the Pirates on Defense with seven tackles, two sacks, two tackle for losses, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble.
MJC looks for another victory when they play Sacramento City College on Saturday, September 27th at 6:00pm.
