MJC Sports Recap
Women’s Soccer:
Modesto Hold their number one ranking in the State in the latest state poll on October 30th. Nationally, the Pirates are ranked seventh in the latest poll released on October 28th.
On October 31st, Santa Rosa (11-5-1) has now handed MJC a loss and a tie on the season. The Pirates gave up an early goal to Tylor Halstenson and then Santa Rosa’s Goal keeper made seven saves to keep preserve the win. This was the first loss on a record setting year for MJC, they are now 16-1-1. MJC is currently ranked first in the state and will remain in the top of the standings after this loss. MJC has three remaining games before playoffs. MJC is a lock for post season play and will most likely host multiple home playoff games. MJC will play at home against Cosumnues River (8-5-5) on November 3rd at 3:00 PM.
Volleyball:
Modesto sweeps this week beating Diablo Valley (14-5) on Monday and Sierra (7-11) on Wednesday. Going in to this week The Pirates were ranked 25th in the state and 11th in Northern California. MJC defeated Diablo Valley on October 24th 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 25-13, 19-25, and 15-8). On Wednesday, October 29th, MJC beat Sierra 3-2 (17-25, 25-22, 25-19, 13-25, and 18-16). MJC’s next match is at American River (16-5) November 5th at 6:30PM.
Men’s Soccer:
MJC improves to 6-7-2 after beating Delta 3-1. Humberto Salcedo scored two goals and assisted the other MJC score by Andres Gacia. Garcia and Salcedo second goal came in the second half to secure the win. This is MJC second win after a seven game losing streak. MJC’s next game is against Santa Rosa (9-4-4) at home on November 4th at 3:00PM.

MJC Men’s Water Polo at 7-10 with a conference record of 1-4 after a loss at Delta 6-12. They will play next in the Big 8 Championships on November 6th.
