MJC Students To Protest Police Militarization
MODESTO, Calif-- Students of Modesto Junior College along with Black Student Union, Red Nations & Friends and Young Americans for Liberty will protest increasing use of military hardware by police forces across the nation Thursday, September 11th
The silent protest will be held on MJC's East Campus in the quad out from of the Student Center where all will be welcome to join.
"We are seeing weapons and equipment coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan being sold to police forces at home. This coupled with the more militarized training makes police less likely to “protect and serve” but rather view the public as an enemy," said Rob Van Tuinen, President of YAL at MJC.
Individuals are invited to bring signs to express themselves, if necessary, since this will be a silent protest.
Young Americans for Liberty at Modesto Junior College is a non-partisan student group whose mission is to engage the students of MJC in the ideas of a free society while fostering social acceptance in addition to promoting personal and economic freedom. Liberty for all. YAL meets every Wednesday at 5:30pm in Forum 101 on MJC's East Campus.
